Victor Tannehill collection, 1939-1945.

This collection contains an extensive amount of audio-visual materials which document the major military conflicts of the 20th century including the history of military aeronautics and individual aircraft film documentaries (many of which are still under copyright). Additionally, there are records, tape recordings and compact discs of various personalities who shaped the history of the 20th century and were used in films pertaining to the history of flight that were produced by Mr. Tannehill. There are also numerous photographs pertaining to aircraft and crewmembers during World War II and Korea and some newspaper articles describing the end of World War II in Europe and the Pacific.

Victor Tannehill began collecting relevant documentary films forty years ago as an aid to his historical research. The author of numerous books on U. S. military aviation during World War II, Mr. Tannehill has also written articles that have appeared in many aviation magazines. His most recently completed books were on the history of the 17th and the 319th Bombardment Groups in World War II. He was one of the technical advisors on two Hollywood movies: "The Tuskegee Airmen" and "Memphis Belle." ...
